Romantic ballet

Romantic ballet
It refers to a period in ballet history that was strongly influenced by Romanticism, which was mainstream in literature, music, and painting in the early 19th century, and to the ballets of that period. In the narrow sense, it refers to the years 1830-50, but it can also be considered 1820-70, including the pre-Romantic and post-Romantic periods. In ballet history, unlike the general flow of art history from classicism to romanticism, the period from the late 17th century, when the foundations of ballet (or more precisely, classical dance) techniques used today were laid, to the early 20th century is sometimes called the classical ballet period, and works that conform to classical dance techniques are sometimes defined in the same way.
