(1) A term in plant morphology. It refers to a morphology in which the internodes of a stem are compact and the leaves grow in a circular carpet-like pattern at almost the same height, resembling a rose flower. This is a growth type in which the number of nodes increases as the stem grows, but the elongation of the internodes is significantly suppressed. It is seen in the perennial stems of biennial herbaceous plants (e.g., radish) and perennial herbaceous plants (e.g., dandelion), in which the leaves appear just above the roots and cover the ground. In many of these plants, when the internodes elongate due to changes in temperature and daylight hours, the stems become of a normal shape. (2) Also called ciliated ring, it refers to a cluster of cells found in the wall of the gastro-hydrodynamic system of comb jellies. It is a structure similar to the flame cells of the protonephridia, and there are two theories: one is that it is an excretory organ, and the other is that it is an organ that transports water and nutrients from the gastro-hydrodynamic system to the body. rosette |
