Japanese: 全電通 - ぜんでんつう

Its official name is the National Telecommunications Workers' Union. It is an affiliated union of Rengo. It was formed in September 1950 after separating from Zentei. In principle, it is made up of workers employed by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation (which became Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation in April 1985). In response to 30 years of technological innovation leading to the expansion and automation of telephone services, it was the first in Japan to adopt a "prior consultation system" as a collective agreement, and established a policy of "fighting against the causes of rationalization, not the result of layoffs." Since 1987, it has been involved in policy activities aimed at "realizing telecommunications for the people," job security, and improved working conditions.
