The Imperial Palace of the retired emperor or retired emperor. It is also called the Imperial Palace of the retired emperor. From the early Heian period onwards, it became customary for an emperor to leave the Dairi (Imperial Palace) and move to another Imperial Palace when he abdicated. This was the Sento Imperial Palace, where the Innocho (Inn's Office), a household administrative body, was established and an Inshi (Inn's Office) was appointed. From the mid-Heian period onwards, the Sato Dairi (Sato Dairi) was often used as the Imperial Palace of the retired emperor, and especially during the Insei period, the activities of the retired emperor became more active and Sento (Sentō) were created in various places. From the Middle Ages onwards, as the power of the samurai increased, the Sento Imperial Palace declined, and in the early modern period, the shogunate concentrated the Sento Imperial Palace around the Dairi (present-day Kyoto Imperial Palace). The Sento Imperial Palace, which currently stands to the southeast of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, was built in 1630 (Kan'ei 7) for Emperor Gomizuno, with Kobori Enshu as the magistrate. When it burned down in 1854 (Ansei 1), it was not rebuilt because there was no one to live in the temple, and only the garden remains today. [Sanae Yoshida] Minamiike Pond.
