Japanese: 六郷[町] - ろくごう

A former town in Nishiyatsushiro County in the southwest of Yamanashi Prefecture. It occupies the hills on the left bank of the Fuji River and produces rice and fruit. Iwama, located in the center and on the Minobu Line, was known as a town for peddling and tabi (sock) manufacturing, but today it is known as Japan's number one stamp town, specializing in crystal seals and accounting for half of the nation's total seal production. In October 2005, it merged with Misato Town and Ichikawa Daimon Town in Nishiyatsushiro County to become Ichikawamisato Town in Nishiyatsushiro County. Area: 13.28 ^km2 . Population: 4,082 (2003).

A former town in Senboku-gun, occupying the center of Yokote Basin in central Akita Prefecture. An alluvial fan opens up at the western foot of the Mahiru Mountains, and there are over 100 springs near the tip of the fan, which are used to produce a lot of sake. Rokugo, in the center of the town, is where Yoshishige Satake built his residence and retired when Yoshiaki Satake was transferred to Akita. The town has neat roads and land layouts, and many temples. In November 2004, it merged with Senbatake-cho and Sennan-mura in Senboku-gun to become a town, Misato-cho. 39.06 ^km2 . 7,303 people (2003). →Satake clan

山梨県南西部，西八代(にしやつしろ)郡の旧町。富士川左岸の丘陵地を占め，米・果樹を産する。身延(みのぶ)線が通じる中心の岩間は行商出稼(でかせぎ)と足袋(たび)製造の町として知られたが，現在は水晶印章を特産，全国の印章生産の半分を占める〈日本一のハンコの町〉。2005年10月，西八代郡三珠町，市川大門町と合併し町制，西八代郡市川三郷町となる。13.28km²。4082人（2003）。

六郷[町]【ろくごう】

秋田県中部，横手盆地中央部を占める仙北郡の旧町。真昼(まひる)山地西麓に扇状地が開け，扇端付近に100余の湧泉があり，これを利用する清酒を多産。中心の六郷は佐竹義宣の秋田遷封のとき父義重が居館を建てて隠居した地で，道路，屋敷割が整然とし，寺院が多い。2004年11月仙北郡千畑町，仙南村と合併し町制，美郷町となる。39.06km²。7303人（2003）。→佐竹氏
