Rokugo Shinzaburou (Rokugo Shinzaburou)

Japanese: 六合新三郎(六郷新三郎) - ろくごうしんざぶろう

A Nagauta musician. There have been eight generations to date. The first and sixth generations are written as "Rokugo", and the others as "Rokugo". The first, fourth and sixth generations are famous. (1) First Generation: Formerly known as Uno Choshichi, he was known as Chosai. Date of birth and death unknown. His name appears in play rankings from 1713 to 1766 (Shotoku 3 to Meiwa 3). He was an expert on the small drum and also skilled in composing musical accompaniment. It is said that he created the raijo technique used in the transformation of the fox, and the kodama technique used in scenes of deep mountains and the seashore.

長唄の囃子方。現在まで8世を数える。初世および6世は〈六合〉と記し，その他は〈六郷〉と記す。初世，4世，6世が著名。(1)初世　前名宇野長七，長斎と号する。生没年不詳。1713‐66年(正徳3‐明和3)までの芝居番付にその名を散見する。小鼓の名手で，作調(囃子の作曲)にも巧みであった。狐の変化（へんげ）などに使われる来序（らいじよ），あるいは深山，海浜の場面に打たれる〈谺（こだま）〉の手法は彼の作といわれる。
