?-1374? The fifth king of the Sukhothai dynasty of Thailand (reigned 1347-74?). Grandson of King Ramakhamhaeng the Great. He had been in Satchanalai as viceroy since 1340, but in 1347 he returned to Sukhothai leading an army, recaptured the throne from a usurper, restored order, and became king himself, becoming the founder of the revival of the Sukhothai dynasty. When Ayutthaya was founded in the south in 1350, he worked to establish relations with it. In addition to being a warrior, he is famous in the history of Thai literature as the author of Trai Phum (The Sutra of the Three Realms). Written in 1345 when he was viceroy, the book is an enlightening Buddhist work in Thai for laypeople, and shows strong influences from Sri Lankan Buddhism.
