A port and resort city in southern Texas, USA. Population 275,000 (1994). Facing Corpus Christi Bay, a tributary of the Gulf of Mexico, the city lies between the Gulf and the coastal state of Mustang Island. It is a center of oil and natural gas production, and oil refining, chemicals, and food processing industries are well developed. Cotton, oil, grains, and chemical products are the main exports.
