Record of the dead - Rokukibo

A book that records the authors, short biographies, and titles of Chinese sanqu and zaju from the early Yuan Dynasty. Written by Zhong Sicheng. Two volumes. The first volume records people from the north, and the second volume records people from the south, mainly in Hangzhou. The order of the volumes is roughly chronological. It includes a preface from the first year of the Zhishun era (1330), but it seems that additional writing was added after that. The text is based on the "Twelve Pieces of Cao Lianting" version published during the Kangxi era (1662-1722) and the Tianyi Pavilion Collection (revised by Jia Zhongming in the Ming Dynasty) discovered in the Republic of China. The two versions have differences in the order of authors and the number of recorded titles of works. There is also the "Lu Gui Bu Zhong Zhong" written by an anonymous author from the Ming Dynasty, which records playwrights from the Yuan Dynasty and early Ming Dynasties, short biographies, titles of works, and titles of works by unknown authors. The works include Lu Gong Bu, Lu Gong Bu Sequel (1957, Anthology of Chinese Classical Drama Essays 2) and New Annotations of Lu Gong Bu (1957, Bungaku Koseki Publishing House), which are annotated versions of the Cao and Tianyi Ge versions and include sequels. These are indispensable historical materials for research into Yuan opera.

中国、元初以来の散曲、雑劇の作者、小伝、作品名を記した書。鍾嗣成(しょうしせい)著。上下二巻。上巻は北方の人、下巻は杭州(こうしゅう)を中心に南方の人を記し、各巻のなかの配列はおおむね時代順による。至順元年（1330）の自序を付すが、その後にも筆を加えたらしい。テキストの系統には康煕(こうき)年間（1662～1722）刊行の『曹楝亭(そうれんてい)十二種』本と、民国に発見された天一閣蔵鈔本(しょうほん)（明(みん)、賈仲明(かちゅうめい)増補）があり、両者は作者の配列、作品名の記録数に異同がみられる。さらに明、無名氏著『録鬼簿続編』があり、元・明初の劇作家、小伝、作品名、作者不明の作品名を記す。曹本と天一閣本を校注し続編を付した『録鬼簿、録鬼簿続編』（1957・『中国古典戯曲論著集成』2）、『録鬼簿新校注』（1957・文学古籍刊行社）がある。元曲研究に欠かせない史料である。
