Lubosi Lewanika

Japanese: レワニカ(英語表記)Lubosi Lewanika
Lubosi Lewanika
Around 1845-1916
He was the king of the Lozi Kingdom (reigned 1878-1916) in the western part of Zambia (Barotseland) in southern Africa. He was the grandson of the first king, Murambuwa, but when Lewanika was born the kingdom was under the occupation of King Sebetwane of the Kololo tribe, and he moved to the Kololo region in the south with his father when he was about 10 years old. However, the Lozi Kingdom was restored by Sipopa in 1864, and Lewanika was selected as the sixth king in 1878. After ascending to the throne, he faced a mountain of difficult problems to solve, including conflicts with the Kololo, the division of power among local chiefs, and the coming and going of Europeans.
