Italian mercenary captain. Born as an illegitimate son of the Montefeltro family based in Urbino, a small city in central Italy, he became a Signorie (signoria system) in 1444 and worked to expand and stabilize the territory. He gained combat experience under N. Piccinino and distinguished himself as a mercenary captain (condottiere). In 66, he was hired by the commander-in-chief of the Italian League (Peace of Lodi), and defeated the Venetian army led by B. Colleoni, a worthy rival, establishing himself as the strongest mercenary captain in Italy.

イタリアの傭兵隊長。イタリア中部の小都市ウルビノを拠点とするモンテフェルトロ家の庶子として生まれたが，1444年よりシニョーレ(シニョリーア制)となり，領土の拡張と安定に努めた。N.ピッチニーノのもとで戦闘経験を積み，傭兵隊長(コンドッティエーレ)として頭角を現わす。66年，〈イタリア同盟〉(ローディの和)の総指揮官に雇われ，好敵手であったB.コレオーニの率いるベネチア軍を撃破し，イタリア最強の傭兵隊長の地位を確立した。
