Lake pigment - Lake pigment
A type of organic pigment. Lake means to make something insoluble. Water-soluble dyes such as auramine and malachite green are made insoluble. Insoluble barium salts, heavy metal complex salts, double salts, etc. are made by reacting with barium chloride, tannic acid, molybdic acid, etc. Used in decorative coatings, printing inks, paints, etc.
