Toxins are highly toxic substances of biological origin that have a protein structure and are characterized by their antigenicity (the ability to induce specific antibodies in living organisms). Well-known examples of toxins include bacterial toxins such as diphtheria and botulinum, and animal toxins such as snake venom.
