Kanze Kasetsu

Japanese: 観世華雪 - かんぜかせつ

Noh actor. Shite actor of the Kanze school. Eldest son of the 5th Kanze Tetsunojō (Benisetsu) (the Tetsunojō family is a branch of the Kanze main family). In 1910, he succeeded the 6th Kanze Tetsunojō. At one time, he participated in the establishment of the Umewaka school by his brothers-in-law Umewaka Manzaburo and Umewaka Rokurō (2nd Jitsu). He is a master of a gentle and delicate style of performance. He trained his nephews Kanze Hisao (1925-1978), Hideo (1927-2007), Shizuo (8th Tetsunojō (1931-2000), Living National Treasure in 1995), the 25th Kanze Sakon (Motomasa), and Kanze Motoaki. In 1952, he became a member of the Japan Art Academy. The 7th Tetsunojō (Masayuki) (1898-1988) was the younger brother of Kasetsu. Received the Purple Ribbon Medal in 2011 (9th generation).
