Reijinsou - Reijinsou

A perennial plant of the Ranunculaceae family (APG classification: Ranunculaceae). It is closely related to monkshood, but the roots of this species are perennial. The stems are 30-80 cm tall and always have circular basal leaves. Racemes are produced in August and September. The helmet-shaped upper sepals are long and slender, pale purple with no blue tinge. The flower stalks are densely hairy. It grows in temperate forests and is distributed from the Kanto region west of Honshu to Kyushu. It is said that its closely related species are Azumareijinsou A. pterocaule Koidz., which is distributed in Honshu from the Chubu region north, and Ibukireijinsou A. chrysopilum , which is a specialty of Mt. Ibuki in Shiga Prefecture, and these have densely hairy flower stalks. The name comes from the fact that the shape of the flower resembles the crown worn by Bugaku performers.

キンポウゲ科（APG分類：キンポウゲ科）の多年草。トリカブトに近縁であるが、本種の根は多年生である。茎は高さ30～80センチメートル、つねに円形の根出葉がある。8～9月、総状花序をつくる。兜(かぶと)状の上萼片(がくへん)は細長く、淡紫色で、青みは帯びない。花柄は開出毛を密生する。温帯の林内に生え、関東地方以西の本州から九州に分布する。近縁種に、中部地方以北の本州に分布するアズマレイジンソウA. pterocaule Koidz.と滋賀県伊吹山(いぶきやま)特産のイブキレイジンソウA. chrysopilumがあるとされ、これらは花柄に屈毛を密生する。名は、花の形が舞楽の伶人(れいじん)がかぶる冠に似ることによる。
