Japanese: アメリカハブ
America Hub
A general term for venomous snakes belonging to the Bothrops genus of the Viperidae family, which are feared in tropical America. 49 species are distributed widely in Central and South America. The largest species is the fer‐de‐ lance , which is 1.9–2.4 m long and lives in the rainforests of Panama, Colombia, Brazil, and Peru. It is terrestrial and invades cultivated land and residential areas in search of rodents, causing a lot of damage to humans and livestock. It is closely related to the snakes and has a similar morphology and ecology, but is ovoviviparous and gives birth to 60–70 offspring at a time.
