This is a collection of poetry contests categorized by the status of the organizers. It is also called "Utaawase Ruiju." It was compiled twice, in the middle and late Heian period, and is called the "Jukanbon" and "Nijikanbon" according to the number of volumes compiled. The existing originals and transcriptions of these two collections allow us to confirm almost the entire picture of poetry contests up to the late Heian period. "Jukanbon Ruiju Utaawase" categorized and compiled 46 poetry contests from the "Minbukyono (Yukihira) Family Utaawase" at the end of the 9th century to the "Kisai no Miyano (Kanshi) Utaawase" in 1056 (Tenki 4) into 10 volumes. It is said to have been compiled during the reign of Emperor Goreizei (before 1068), and the editors are thought to have been Fujiwara no Yorimichi, Minamoto no Tsunenobu, and others. The "Twenty-Volume Ruiju Utaawase" began as the compilation of the 10 volumes of the "Wakaawasesho" based on the wishes of Emperor Horikawa in the early 12th century, which was supplemented with the "Kokin Utaawase", and was compiled and compiled into the 20 volumes of the "Ruiju Utaawase" around 1127 (Taiji 2). It compiled over 200 poems, from the aforementioned "Tambukyo Family Poetry Contest" to the "Regent Left Minister (Tadamichi) Family Poetry Contest" in 1126, into 20 volumes. Since the time of "Waka-Gosesho," the main editor of this work has been assumed to have been the Grand Minister of State, Minamoto no Masazane; Regent Fujiwara no Tadamichi was also closely involved, and it is said that Minamoto no Toshiyori and others were involved in the practical aspects of the work.
