Okada clan

During the Edo period, this small Tozama domain had its headquarters in Okada, Shimomichi County, Bitchu Province (Okayama Prefecture). The domain's founder, Ito Nagazane, served the Oda and Toyotomi clans, and during the Keicho and Genna Wars (the Battle of Osaka), he barricaded himself in Osaka Castle. However, he was pardoned for his service in informing on the plot of Ishida Mitsunari, and was given a total of 13,000 koku in 10 villages in Shimomichi County, Bitchu Province (7,500 koku), 2 villages in Ikeda County, Mino Province (Gifu Prefecture), 1 village in Teshima County, Settsu Province (Osaka Prefecture), and 2 villages in Takayasu County, Kawachi Province (Osaka Prefecture). Since then, the domain was inhabited by 10 generations until the Meiji Restoration. In 1717 (Kyoho 2), during the reign of the fifth feudal lord, Nagahira, the Shinpon Gimin Uprising broke out over the collection of common land and the imposition of tax on Shinjo and Honjo villages in Bitchu Province. In 1871 (Meiji 4), the domain was abolished, and the domain was incorporated into Okayama Prefecture, passing through Okada, Fukatsu, and Oda Prefectures.

江戸時代、備中(びっちゅう)国（岡山県）下道(しもみち)郡岡田に陣屋を置いた外様(とざま)、小藩。藩祖伊東長実(ながざね)はもと織田(おだ)、豊臣(とよとみ)氏に仕え、慶長(けいちょう)・元和(げんな)の役（大坂の陣）では大坂城に籠城(ろうじょう)したが、かつて、石田三成(みつなり)の陰謀を内報した勲功により赦(ゆる)され、備中国下道郡10か村（高7500石余）、美濃(みの)国（岐阜県）池田郡2か村、摂津国（大阪府）豊島(てしま)郡1か村、河内(かわち)国（大阪府）高安(たかやす)郡2か村で高合計1万3000石余を与えられた。以来10代にわたって在封して明治維新に至る。1717年（享保2）5代藩主長救(ながひら)のとき、備中領新庄(しんじょう)、本庄村の入会(いりあい)地の収公、夫役(ぶやく)の賦課をめぐって、新本(しんぽん)義民騒動が起こった。1871年（明治4）廃藩、岡田・深津・小田県を経て岡山県に編入。
