〘名〙① うろこの一片。うろこのかけら。また、うろこ状をした細片。※球根（1921）〈寺田寅彦〉「百合のやうな鱗片から成った球根ではあったが」② 生物体の体表面にあるうろこ状の構造物の総称。次の四項に大別される。(1)うろこ状の薄い付属物、葉の退化したもの、表皮のもりあがったものなど。(2)鱗片葉のこと。(3)鱗翅目の鱗粉のこと。(4)多毛虫のウロコムシの体背面に左右に二列にならぶ扁平板など。〔植学訳筌（1874）〕
