Linhaku Canal

Chinese politician. Born in Hunan Province. Joined the China Tongminghui while studying at Tokyo Higher Normal School in Japan. After returning to China, participated in the Xinhai Revolution. Helped found the Communist Party of China in 1921. Became head of the Peasant Department of the Guangdong government in 1925. Joined the Northern Expedition in 1926 and participated in the August 1st Nanchang Uprising in 1927. In 1928, went to what was then the Soviet Union and studied at Sun Yat-sen University. Returned to China in 1931. Engaged in the Latinization movement. Joined the Long March, and served as head of the Shaan-Ganning Border District government during the Second Sino-Japanese War. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as a member of the Communist Party's Politburo and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress.

中国の政治家。湖南(こなん)省生まれ。日本の東京高等師範学校に留学中、中国同盟会に加入。帰国後、辛亥(しんがい)革命に参加。1921年の中国共産党創立に参加。1925年広東(カントン)政府農民部長。1926年北伐に加わり、1927年の八・一南昌蜂起(なんしょうほうき)にも参加。1928年、当時のソ連に赴き中山大学に学ぶ。1931年帰国。言語のラテン化運動に従事。長征に加わり、日中戦争中は陝甘寧(せんかんねい)辺区政府首席を務めた。人民共和国成立後、共産党政治局員、人民代表大会常務委員会副委員長などを歴任した。
