Lanpa Keishi

Japanese: 蘭坡景茝 - らんぱけいし

1419-1501 A monk from the Muromachi to Sengoku period.
Born in 1403. A Rinzai sect monk. He followed the Daimo Bonki method and studied poetry and prose under Kisei Reigen and others. He served as the abbot of Rinsenji Temple and Nanzenji Temple, and had literary connections with Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado and Sanjonishi Sanetaka. He passed away on February 28, 1456. He was 83 years old. He was from Omi (Shiga Prefecture). His pen name was Sekkou. His posthumous name was Butsue Enno Zen Master. His works include "Sekkou Solo Singing Collection."
[Proverbs, etc.] Everything is my poetry. There is no Zen without poetry, and no poetry without Zen. This is called the unity of all things.

応永26年生まれ。臨済(りんざい)宗。大模梵軌(だいも-ぼんき)の法をつぎ,希世霊彦(きせい-れいげん)らに詩文をまなぶ。臨川寺,南禅寺の住持をつとめ,後土御門(ごつちみかど)天皇,三条西実隆らと文事の交わりがあった。明応10年2月28日死去。83歳。近江(おうみ)(滋賀県)出身。号は雪樵。諡号(しごう)は仏慧円応禅師。著作に「雪樵独唱集」など。
【格言など】万物は吾が詩なり。詩を離れて禅無く,禅を離れて詩無し。之を万法帰一と謂う
