Also called torbanite. A type of uranium mica, a major group of secondary uranium minerals. Composition: Cu(UO 2 ) 2 (PO 4 ) 2 ・8-12H 2 O. Tetragonal crystal system. Green, transparent to translucent. Mohs hardness: 2-2.5. Specific gravity: 3.3. It commonly occurs in the oxidation zones of various uranium deposits containing copper as aggregates of euhedral square plate crystals or as amorphous films. As with autunite, some of the crystal water is lost on drying to form a metaphase. Soluble in acid. Some emit a faint green fluorescence under ultraviolet light, but most are unreactive. トルバナイトともいう。ウランの二次鉱物中の主要グループであるウラン雲母族中の一種。組成Cu(UO2)2(PO4)2・8~12H2O。正方晶系。緑色透明~半透明。モース硬度2~2.5。比重3.3。四角板状の自形結晶の集合体または不定形の皮膜として,銅を含む各種ウラン鉱床の酸化帯にごく普通に産する。乾燥により結晶水の一部が失われてメタ相ができることはリン灰ウラン石の場合と同じ。酸に可溶。紫外線下でかすかに緑色蛍光を発するものが一部にあるが,大半は無反応。
