A type of educational event held at schools. During the summer, students stay at facilities with natural environments such as forests for a certain period of time, and participate in outdoor activities, swimming, group training, and life training to improve their physical strength and health. This event has been held frequently since the Showa era. It can also refer to school facilities set up in forests for the purpose of treating and educating weak students. 学校の教育行事の一つ。夏季の一定期間,山林など自然環境に恵まれた施設に児童生徒を合宿させ,野外活動や水泳,合宿集団訓練,生活訓練を行い,体力や健康の増進をはかるための行事。昭和以降盛んに行われている。また虚弱な児童生徒の治療と教育を目的として,林間に設けられる学校施設をいうこともある。
