French actor and director. Professor at the Conservatoire. He first studied Russian at the École des Lingues Orientales in Paris, and then translated Russian, German, and Greek plays. He studied acting under the tutelage of the famous Russian-born actress Tania Barachova, and participated as an actor in the Théâtre des Jours in Marseilles (1962-63) and the theatre company of the Maison de la Culture in Caen (1964-67). He also served as secretary to the novelist and poet L. Aragon (1960-62). Since 1972, he has been the manager of the Théâtre Cartier in Ivry, a suburb of Paris, and since 1981, the Théâtre National de Chaillot, where he stages a wide repertoire of classical plays (Racine, Molière), modern classics (B. Brecht, P. Claudel), and contemporary French authors (Xavier Pommeraye, René Kaliski).

フランスの俳優，演出家。コンセルバトアール教授。はじめパリ東洋語学校のロシア語科に学び，ロシア語，ドイツ語，ギリシア語の戯曲を翻訳するようになった。ロシア生れの名女優タニア･バラショワの塾で演技を学び，マルセイユの〈日常劇団〉(1962‐63)，カーンの文化会館付属劇団(1964‐67)に俳優として参加するかたわら，小説家･詩人のL.アラゴンの秘書(1960‐62)も務めた。1972年以後はパリ郊外イブリのカルティエ劇場，81年以後はシャイヨー国立劇場の支配人として，古典劇(ラシーヌ，モリエール)，現代古典(B.ブレヒト，P.クローデル)，フランス現代作家(グザビエ･ポムレ，ルネ･カリスキー)など幅広いレパートリーを上演している。
