Born in 1621. Became a monk at Gion-ji Temple of the Shingon sect in Chikugo (Fukuoka prefecture). In 1663, he ascended to Mount Koya, and in 1717 became the inspector of Mount Koya. In a dispute between the academic monks and the pilgrims, he represented the academic monks to the shogunate, and led them to victory. He passed away on July 21, 1627. He was 86 years old. He was from Chikugo. His common surname was Ogasawara, and his pen name was Shunchobo. He is known for his edited works such as "Koyasan Shunjuhennronshuuroku" and "Genroku Seidanki."
