Located in the southeastern part of the state of Nebraska in the United States, this is the state capital. It has a population of 203,000 (1994). Salt development began in the lowlands in 1856, and the town was founded in 1859, becoming an important supplier of salt. When the state of Nebraska was established in 1867, it became the state capital, and was renamed after the 16th president, Lincoln. It is a commercial and industrial city at the heart of the livestock and grain region, and is home to industries such as agricultural machinery and food. During that time, he volunteered in the Black Hawk War in 1832 and participated in the Indian subjugation.
