Canaanite mythology

…Recently, Oriental archaeology has provided many groundbreaking results on the mythology of the Syrian-Canaan region, centering on the research of the Ugaritic society that gave birth to it. The first light was shed on the mythology of this region, which had been buried under sand for a long time, by the tip of a Syrian farmer's hoe, who happened to be plowing a field. It was in the spring of 1928. The following year, an excavation team of French archaeologists was organized, and a little over a month after the start of the trial excavation, they succeeded in unearthing a magnificent group of ruins that spread across the hill of Uikyou (Ras Shamra), about 1 km up the mountain from the coast. …
