〘名〙① 高くて光栄ある爵位。※読書放浪（1933）〈内田魯庵〉上下思想とルパシカ思想「先祖の余光の富と栄爵とを棒に振るをも辞さない意気込みである」〔史記‐平津侯主父伝賛〕② 五位の別称。初めて五位を与えられるのを叙爵といったが、五位は通貴といって貴族（三位以上）に準ずる地位で、名誉あることとしたところからいう。※小右記‐天元五年（982）正月一〇日「円融寺申_二造作料爵_一、以_二大炊允三嶋兼連_一可_レ被_レ預_二栄爵_一之奏状、将遣_二太相府_一可_レ令_二定申_一者」
