Silver plate - Ginban

...a method of increasing the sensitivity of photographic materials. When the photographic method was first published in 1839, the photosensitive material used was made by exposing a silver plate to iodine vapor (called a silver plate), and silver iodide was used as the photosensitive substance. This was called daguerreotype, or silver plate photography, but at the time, photography required exposure times of several tens of minutes, making it difficult to photograph moving subjects.
