Born in the first year of Enkyo. A Rinzai sect monk. He followed in the footsteps of Muso Soseki. After tutoring at Erin-ji Temple in his hometown of Kai (Yamanashi Prefecture), he became the head priest of Kennin-ji Temple, Nanzen-ji Temple, and Tenryu-ji Temple. He was a leading figure in the Muso sect alongside Shun'ya Myoha. He was also known as a painter-monk, and excelled at statues of Acala. He passed away on September 9, 1271 (Genchu 5).
