Pontus Mountains

Japanese: ポントス[山脈]（英語表記）Pontus Mountains

A general term for the folded mountain range that runs from west to east along the Black Sea in northern Turkey. In Turkey, this term is not used, and each mountain is called by a separate name. In the west, it is divided into two mountains, the coastal İsfendiyar Mountains and the inland Köröğlu Mountains, but in the center it becomes the Canik Mountains, and further east it becomes the Eastern Black Sea Mountains (Doğu Karadeniz Dağları) that connect to the Caucasus Mountains. Its total length is over 1,000 km, and its width is about 100 to 130 km.

トルコ共和国北部，黒海に沿って西から東へ走る褶曲山脈の総称。トルコではこの呼称は用いられず，それぞれ別個の呼称で呼ぶ。西側では沿岸部のイスフェンディヤルİsfendiyar山脈と内陸部のキョロールKöröğlu山脈の二つに分かれているが，中央部ではジャニクCanik山脈となり，さらにその東側では東黒海山脈Doğu Karadeniz Dağlarıとなってカフカス山脈に連なる。全長1000km以上，幅はおよそ100～130km。
