Aerosol - Aerosol

A solid or liquid agent is packed into a container with a low-boiling propellant, and the agent is sprayed in a mist from a valve. It is generally called an aerosol agent or aerosol agent. It is used in insecticides, anthelmintics, household paints, hairsprays, skin medications, etc., because it is easy to obtain a uniform dispersion. Propellants include liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), dimethyl ether, and nitrogen gas. In the past, chlorofluorocarbons were often used, but they are no longer used because they accumulate in the stratosphere, destroying the ozone layer and increasing the amount of solar ultraviolet radiation. In addition, the term aerosol, academically, refers to a system in which the dispersion medium is gas and the dispersed phase is solid or liquid, and is also called aerosol.

固体または液体の薬剤を、低沸点の噴射剤とともに容器に詰め、バルブから薬剤を霧状に散布するようにしたもの。一般にはエアゾール剤もしくはエアロゾル剤とよばれることも多い。手軽に均一な散布状態が得られるため、殺虫・駆虫剤、家庭用塗料、ヘアスプレー、皮膚用薬剤などに利用されている。噴射剤として液化石油ガス（LPG）、ジメチルエーテル、窒素ガスなどがある。かつてはフロンガスがよく用いられたが、これが成層圏に蓄積してオゾン層を破壊し、太陽紫外線量を増加させるという問題で使用されなくなった。なお、学術的にエーロゾル（エアロゾル）aerosolという用語は、分散媒が気体で、分散相が固体または液体である系をさし、煙霧質ともいう。
