Japanese: クロタキカズラ - くろたきかずら

A deciduous, climbing woody plant of the Icacinaceae family common in the tropics. The leaves are alternate, thin, broadly ovate with a heart-shaped base, 8-18 cm long, and have irregularly toothed edges. In late spring, small yellow-green flowers bloom in corymbs growing in the leaf axils. The fruits are slightly flattened, ripen red, and contain one seed. They grow in mountain valleys in Honshu (Chugoku region), Shikoku, and Kyushu. They are a somewhat rare plant. All members of the Icacinaceae family are woody plants, either tall trees, shrubs, or climbing plants.
