Dragon Rock

Japanese: 竜岩 - りゅうがん

A city in southwest Fujian Province, China, in the upper reaches of the Jiulong River, on the highway from Zhangzhou to Ruijin in Jiangxi Province via Changting. Also spelled Longyan. Population 420,000 (1994). At the center of the Longyan region, it governs Zhangping City and five counties. A branch line (Zhanglong Line (Zhangping to Longyan)) of the Yingtan-Xiamen Railway (Yingtan-Xiamen) passes through the city. During the Tang Dynasty, a county was established and was originally called Silla, but was soon renamed Longyan. When Ruijin in Jiangxi Province was the capital of the Chinese Soviet Republic (1931-34), the Fujian Soviet District was located around Longyan.

中国，福建省南西部，九竜江上流域，漳州から長汀を経て江西省の瑞金にいたる公路上にある市。竜巌とも書く。人口42万(1994)。竜岩地区の中心で漳平市と5県を管轄する。鷹厦（ようか）鉄道(鷹潭～厦門（アモイ）)の支線(漳竜線(漳平～竜岩))が市内を通る。唐代に県がおかれ最初新羅と呼んだが，まもなく竜岩に改められた。江西省の瑞金が中華ソビエト共和国の首都であった時代(1931‐34)には竜岩を中心に閩西（びんせい）ソビエト区がおかれていた。
