…After returning home, he met Juji Ishii and converted to Christianity. He devoted himself to social work, such as establishing the Ohara Scholarship Foundation and the Kurashiki Education Forum, which were educational projects, in order to make Kurashiki a holy place in the Orient. In 1904, he succeeded the family headship, and in 1906, as president of Kurashiki Spinning, he worked to improve the working conditions and welfare of factory workers. He also served as president and director of Kurashiki Silk Weaving, Mitoyo Spinning, Japan Mattress Company, Kurashiki Electric Light, Chugoku Joint Hydroelectric Power, Chugoku Bank, Okayama Joint Savings Bank, Chugoku Trust, and Keihan Electric Railway, and worked to promote industry in Okayama Prefecture.
