These two chronicles, which document the activities of the Teutonic Knights, who expanded into the eastern coastal areas of the Baltic Sea in the early 13th century, are important works for the history of Latvia and Estonia, the region known as Livonia. One is the Latin "Henrici chronicon Livoniae," believed to have been written by the monk Henry, and covers the period from 1184 to 1227. The other is the Medieval High German "Livländische Reimchronik," of unknown authorship, consisting of 12,017 lines, covering the history from 1236 to 1290, when the Teutonic Knights established control over all of Livonia.

13世紀初頭，バルト海東沿岸地域に進出したドイツ騎士修道会の活動の歴史をつづった2種の年代記で，ラトビアとエストニア，いわゆるリボニア地方の歴史にとって重要な著作。一つは修道士ヘンリクス作とされるラテン語の《リボニア年代記Henrici chronicon Livoniae》で1184年から1227年までの記録である。いま一つは著者不明の1万2017行からなる中世高地ドイツ語の《リボニア押韻詩年代記Livländische Reimchronik》で，1236年からドイツ騎士修道会がリボニア全域の支配を確立した90年までの歴史を収めている。
