Indoor flooring material. Linoleum cement is made by oxidizing linseed oil to produce linoxin, which is mixed with natural resins and rosin to produce linoleum cement. It is then mixed with cork powder, sawdust, pigments, etc., and applied to linen cloth, rolled and pressed. After drying, it is made into a product 2m wide and 25-30m long. It is available in solid colors such as brown, gray, red, indigo, light blue, green, and blue-green, as well as inlaid with patterns printed on the surface or stamped with simple patterns. There is also linotile cut into 30cm squares. It is flame-retardant, easy to clean, highly elastic, feels good to walk on, and is durable. It was invented in England in 1863, and linoleum is the Latin word for linseed oil. Since around 1955, various flooring materials made of polyvinyl chloride resin have appeared, and the demand for linoleum has decreased.

室内の床材料。亜麻仁油を酸化してリノキシンをつくり，これに天然樹脂類，ロジンなどを加えて混和融合して，リノリウム・セメントとし，コルク粉，のこ屑，顔料などを混ぜ，麻布に塗りつけ，ロール掛け圧着したもの。乾燥後，幅 2m，長さ 25～30mの製品とする。色は茶，灰，赤，藍，淡藍，緑，青緑などの単色のもの，捺染による模様つけや，簡単な模様を打抜いて象眼としたものもある。また 30cm角に切断したリノタイルがある。難燃性で，清掃が容易であり，弾力性に富み，歩くときの感触がよく，耐久力がある。 1863年イギリスで発明されたもので，リノリウムとはラテン語の亜麻仁油の意味。 1955年頃から塩化ビニル樹脂製の各種床材料が現れて，リノリウムの需要は減少した。
