A smoking tool for chopped tobacco. It consists of a bowl, a gooseneck, and a mouthpiece, and is often connected in the middle by bamboo (rao). There are various types of giseru, such as the nobegiseru, which is made in one piece from gold, silver, bronze, or brass, the small, flat natame-style giseru, and the hanami-giseru, which is over three feet long and was used on outings during the Edo period. 刻みタバコ用喫煙具。火皿，雁首(がんくび)，吸口からなり，多く中間を竹（羅宇(らお)）で接続。金，銀，青銅，真鍮(しんちゅう)などで一体に作った延(のべ)ぎせる，延ぎせるのうち小型で平たい鉈豆(なたまめ)ぎせる，江戸時代遊山の折などに用いられた３尺余の花見ぎせるなどがあり，象嵌(ぞうがん)や彫刻などを施した工芸的なものも多いが，現在，利用者は少ない。→水煙管
