Standing pillar

Japanese: 立柱 - たてばしら
Standing pillar
It refers to the day when the first pillar is erected in a newly built house, and this day is celebrated as the beginning of construction. At Ise Grand Shrine, there is an event to erect the central pillar, the imubashira (traditional pillar) or shin no mihashira (heart pillar). First, an auspicious day is chosen and the Yamaguchi Festival is held, and an auspicious day for building the heart pillar is determined, and the uchindo (inner servants) begin lumbering, a Konomoto Festival is held, the imitation pillar is built, and it is carried from the lumber to the site. Here, another auspicious day is chosen and a ground-breaking ceremony is held. After that, grass is cut and holes are dug, and then an inner servant called the oomonoimi (large-scale imubashira) erects the imubashira, followed by the erection of the pillars on all four sides.
