...While non-Roman and German legal systems were incorporated into common law, Roman legal systems were also liberated from their individual source texts and treated in a principled and systematic manner. Conring, Carpuccio, Samuel Stryk (1640-1710), and Johann Gottlieb Heineccius (1681-1741) were representative proponents of the "modern usage."
