Li Jing

Japanese: 李靖 - りせい
Li Jing

A famous general of the Tang Dynasty in China. His real name was Yakshi. He was from Sanyuan, Yongzhou (Sanyuan County, Shaanxi Province). His father, Sen, was a local governor of the Sui Dynasty. Jing first served the Sui Dynasty, but was saved from being killed by Li Yuan, the first emperor of the Tang Dynasty. He served Li Yuan's son, Li Shimin (later Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty), and played an active role in suppressing the warlords and fighting the Turks. After Shimin ascended to the throne, he held successive high-ranking positions, and was a particularly skilled commander in the battles against the Turks and the Tuyuhun. He is one of the 24 nobles whose portraits are painted in the Lingyan Pavilion, and is one of the two great generals along with Li Ji. He was buried in a large secondary tomb consisting of three mountains at Emperor Taizong's Zhaoling Mausoleum.
