Japanese: 風景論 - ふうけいろん

A general term for the impressionism, appreciation, structure (physical composition), and semantics of landscapes that unfold within a field of vision limited by a specific viewpoint or angle of view. It is closely related to landscape (mountain and water) painting theory and garden theory. Modern landscape theory aims to systematically integrate the scientific analysis of the physical structure of a landscape with the consideration of psychological aspects such as the perception and sensitivity of the viewer, and relies on landscape geography, perceptual psychology, especially geopsychology, and plastic aesthetics, but the systematization of landscape theory as landscape science is still in the tentative stage.

特定の視点･視角によって限定された視界にひろがる風景の印象論，観賞論，構造論(物的構成)，意味論の総称。風景(山水)画論や庭園論と関係が深い。近代的な風景論は，風景の物的構造の科学的分析と，一方では観賞者の知覚，感受性といった心理的側面の考察との組織的統合化を目ざし，景観地理学や知覚心理学，とくに風土心理学geopsychology，造形美学などに依存しているが，まだ風景学としての体系化は試論的段階にある。
