A general term for mammals of the Pseudocheirus genus in the Petaidae family of the marsupial order. An arboreal marsupial found in Australia and New Guinea. It has a long tail, hairless at the tip, which is coiled up like a spring, allowing it to be wrapped around objects, hence the name. It has long, woolly fur, and a body shape somewhat similar to that of a cat. Body length is 16-46 cm, tail length 17-40 cm, and weight 0.7-1.4 kg. 有袋目フクロモモンガ科リングテール属Pseudocheirusの哺乳類の総称。オーストラリアとニューギニアに分布する樹上生の有袋類。尾が長く,先端が無毛でゼンマイのように巻いており,物に巻きつけることができるのでこの名がある。体毛は長く羊毛状で,体型はややネコに似る。体長16~46cm,尾長17~40cm,体重0.7~1.4kg。ハイイロリングテールP.peregrinusほか13種ほどが知られている。
