The third king of the Sukhothai dynasty of Thailand. He reigned from about 1275 to 1299 or 1317. He was the third son of King Sri Intrathit, the founder of the Sukhothai dynasty. He is known as the greatest king in Thai history and is called Ramakhamhaeng Maharat (the Great). According to the record in the King Ramakhamhaeng Stele (1292), the oldest surviving Thai inscription, he was already famous for his bravery at a young age, and after becoming king, he led expeditions to various places, expanding his territory from Luang Prabang and Vientiane in Laos in the north, Ligor (Nakhon Si Thammarat) on the Malay Peninsula in the south, and the coast of the Indian Ocean in the west.

タイのスコータイ朝第3代の王。在位は1275年ころから99年あるいは1317年ころ。スコータイ朝の創設者シーイントラティット王の三男。タイ国史上最大の王として知られ,ラーマカムヘン・マハーラート(大王)と呼ばれている。現存する最古のタイ語碑文である〈ラーマカムヘン王碑文〉(1292)の記載によると,彼は若くしてすでに武勇の誉れ高く,王となっては各地に遠征を行い,その版図を北はラオスのルアンプラバン,ビエンチャンから,南はマレー半島のリゴール(ナコーンシータマラート),西はインド洋岸にまで広げた。
