Autunite (Rinkaiuranium Seki)

Japanese: リン灰ウラン石(燐灰ウラン石) - りんかいウランせき（英語表記）autunite

A representative species of the uranium mica group, a major group of secondary uranium minerals. Composition: Ca(UO ₂ ) ₂ (PO ₄ ) ₂ ･10-12H ₂ O. Calcium can be replaced by other cations, and phosphorus by arsenic, so there are many similar-looking related species. When dried, some of the crystal water is easily lost, and it becomes metaphosphate. Soluble in acid. Tetragonal crystal system. Bright yellow to yellow-green, transparent to translucent. Mohs hardness: 2-2.5. Specific gravity: 3.1. Emits strong bright yellow-green fluorescence under ultraviolet light. Found as an aggregate of euhedral square-plate crystals or as an irregular film.

ウランの二次鉱物中の主要グループであるウラン雲母族の代表種。組成Ca(UO₂)₂(PO₄)₂･10～12H₂O。カルシウムは他の陽イオンで，リンはヒ素で，それぞれ置換できるため，見かけの似た類縁種が多い。乾燥により結晶水の一部は容易に失われ，メタリン灰ウラン石となる。酸に可溶。正方晶系。鮮黄～黄緑色，透明～半透明。モース硬度2～2.5。比重3.1。紫外線により鮮黄緑色の強い蛍光を発する。四角板状の自形結晶の集合体または不定形の皮膜として産出。
