Japanese: コマユバチ(小繭蜂) - コマユバチ

A general term for insects belonging to the family Braconidae in the order Hymenoptera. There are more than 5,000 species of parasitic wasps known worldwide, with nearly 300 species known in Japan, including the horse wasp (figure), the green caterpillar samurai braconid wasp (illustration), and the clear-leaved braconid wasp. They are very similar to the Ichneumonidae family, but can be easily distinguished by the lack of transverse veins at the tip of the forewing. They parasitize the larvae, pupae, and sometimes adults of Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera, Coleoptera, Diptera, Mecoptera, and Psocoptera.

膜翅目コマユバチ科Braconidaeに属する昆虫の総称。世界で5000種以上，日本からはウマノオバチ（図），アオムシサムライコマユバチ(イラスト)，スカシバコマユバチなど300種近くが知られている寄生バチ。ヒメバチ科にきわめて似ているが，前翅の先端部よりの横断脈のないことによって簡単に区別できる。鱗翅目，膜翅目，甲虫目，双翅目，シリアゲムシ目，チャタテムシ目などの幼虫，さなぎ，ときには成虫に寄生する。
