The founder of the Rattanakosin Dynasty (Bangkok Dynasty) of Thailand (reigned 1782-1809). He was a subordinate of Phraya Taksin, a general at the end of the Ayutthaya Dynasty, and was named Chao Pia Chakri. However, after Taksin became king, he was promoted to the throne due to his military achievements. He conquered Cambodia and waged a war with Burma (present-day Myanmar).
