External power supply method

...The value of the cathodic current (corrosion protection current) required to lower the potential of a steel structure to this value varies greatly depending on the environment and the number of years that have passed since construction. There are two methods for supplying corrosion protection current to a structure: the galvanic anode method and the external power source method. The galvanic anode method uses a material with a low electrode potential when dissolved, such as zinc, aluminum, or magnesium, by shorting it to the structure and using it as a so-called sacrificial anode.
