[Born] Around 50 B.C. [Died] 18 years ago A leading jurist of the early classical period in the history of Roman law. His father also belonged to the circle of Brutus, and he also adhered to a republican position, refusing the position of legal advisor offered by Emperor Augustus. Unusually for a jurist of that time, he stayed away from politics and devoted himself to the study and teaching of law. With a wide knowledge of Greek philosophy and ancient Roman cultural artifacts and a rich legal creativity, he wrote a total of about 400 legal treatises, and had a great influence on later generations. His extremely accurate definitions became a guide for the conceptual formation of later jurists. It is said that the conflict between the two schools of thought, the Proclusians and the Sabinians, famous in the history of Roman law, originated from the conflict between Labeo and his opponent G. Capito. His main works are Ad edictum libri XXX, Commentary on the Twelve Tables, Ad legem XII tabularum, De iure pontificio, and Responsa, which are currently not directly transmitted.
