1900‐64 A Turkish scholar of Uighur and Turkish literature. He taught and conducted research at Istanbul University and the Institute of Turkology. He collaborated with a German scholar on the translation and annotation of the Legends of Oghuz Khan (1936). He made his name immortal with the completion of his modern translation and annotation of the 11th century Turkish text Kutadog Bilik.
